Latin Grammy-nominated Tejano artist Lucky Joe is opening up about the importance of health after experiencing a scare over the weekend that led him to the emergency room. The 46-year-old singer, known for his hits like “Amor Escondido,” spent several hours in the ER after feeling an abnormal sensation in his chest, a moment that made him reflect on his health and the need for taking medication seriously.
In a candid social media post, Lucky Joe shared his ordeal with his fans, writing, “Last night I had a little scare, but luckily all tests came back normal with the exception of my blood pressure. Doctor said it was kinda high and I need to get back on my hypertension medication. Thanks to my wife I didn’t have to go through it alone. For better or worse, in sickness and in health.” He was treated at an ER in Weslaco, Texas, near his home, with his wife, Tejano singer Devin Banda, by his side.
The following day, Lucky Joe provided more details in a heartfelt video, saying, “I’m okay, guys. I’m doing good. I just wanted to come on here live and let you guys know what happened.” He explained that a sharp, electric-like shock in his chest prompted him to go to the hospital, despite his initial hesitation. “I was like, ‘No, it’s nothing,’ but it happened again, and my wife insisted we go to the ER,” Lucky Joe recalled. Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctors discovered that his blood pressure was dangerously high, a result of him not taking his prescribed hypertension medication regularly.
He admitted to stopping his medication because it caused him to cough during performances. “I ended up stopping the medication instead of going back to the doctor and asking for a better option,” Lucky Joe confessed. “It’s something serious, especially for those of us my age.”
The doctors treated him and brought his blood pressure down, but Lucky Joe stressed the importance of monitoring health, taking medication as prescribed, and staying persistent with treatments. He now encourages his fans to prioritize their health, especially when it comes to heart medication. “Please don’t forget to take your meds. It took something like this for me to realize how important it is,” he urged.
Lucky Joe’s recent health scare serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of staying on top of our health and medications. His experience underscores the crucial need to consistently monitor our health, follow medical advice, and take medications as prescribed, even when they feel inconvenient. By doing so, we can prevent potentially serious health issues and ensure our well-being in the long term.
The Freddie Records artist recently premiered the official music video for “A.M.O”, the upbeat cumbia that has quickly gained popularity, sparking a viral dance trend on TikTok. It is the second single from Lucky Joe’s highly anticipated upcoming album, set for release in the spring of 2025.
