MIAMI, FL — Grupo Frontera’s remarkable journey at the Premio Lo Nuestro 2025 culminated in a victorious night for the Rio Grande Valley band, who won two prestigious awards and delivered an unforgettable performance at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on Thursday, February 20. The band took home the coveted Musica Mexicana Duo or Group of the Year and Musica Mexicana Collaboration of the Year awards for their collaboration with Shakira on the hit song “(Entre Paréntesis).”
The excitement didn’t stop there for Grupo Frontera, as they also treated the audience to an electrifying live performance of “Hoy No Me Siento Bien,” joined by the legendary Alejandro Sanz. Their moving performance was one of the highlights of the evening, showcasing their musical talent and solidifying their place as one of the most influential Latin bands today.

The night also belonged to Shakira, who dominated the awards with an impressive six wins, including Album of the Year for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran and Pop Female Artist of the Year. The Colombian superstar’s reign was closely followed by Carín León, who claimed five awards, while Karol G and Camilo each bagged four.
The 37th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro, a grand celebration of Latin music, took place at the Kaseya Center and was broadcast live on Univision. Hosted by Laura Pausini, Thalia, and Alejandra Espinoza, the event showcased powerful performances, special collaborations, and emotional tributes that aligned with this year’s motto, “Bringing Generations Together.”
The ceremony opened with a head-turning performance by GRAMMY Award-winning actor and artist Will Smith, who joined Spanish singer India Martinez for their new song “First Love.” The night’s energy was further elevated by DJ Khaled, Thalia, and the iconic Miami Sound Machine, who teamed up for a vibrant rendition of the classic “Miami.”
One of the evening’s most touching moments was a tribute to the legendary Paquita la del Barrio, performed by Pepe Aguilar and his children, Leonardo and Angela Aguilar. This tribute highlighted the enduring legacy of the Mexican singer, who has become synonymous with rancheras and boleros.
In addition to the awards and performances, the ceremony also recognized the contributions of Alejandro Fernández, who received the Lo Nuestro Award for Excellence for his invaluable impact on Mexican music and culture. Several artists, including Fernández, expressed their solidarity with immigrant communities in their acceptance speeches, highlighting the importance of unity in times of adversity.
