Las Fenix, the beloved group of five sisters from Houston, are preparing to close the chapter on their 25-year music career with a highly anticipated farewell performance, “El Último Vuelo”. The group, known for their unique blend of Tejano and regional Mexican music, will take the stage for their final concert at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

Three of the Rodriguez sisters — Nadia, Lesli, and Berna — shared their heartfelt thoughts about the end of their musical journey in an exclusive interview with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo.

“We’ve been doing this our whole lives,” said the sisters. “Obviously not the whole world knows about us, but we’ve been performing since we were kids. We started when we were really young, and it became our entire lives. But we always said we didn’t want to do this forever. We love the music, but we also want to enjoy life outside of it.”

The group’s decision to retire comes after years of success and countless memories built through their music. “We’re at a place where we’re really happy with what we’ve accomplished,” they explained. “We’ve performed in so many places around the U.S. and Mexico, and we’re just really grateful. We don’t want to keep going when we’re not 100% there for our fans. So, we decided that now is the time to say goodbye.”

Though they are retiring from the music scene, Las Fenix are not saying goodbye to their fans, but rather celebrating the legacy they’ve built. “It’s not a goodbye, it’s more of a retirement party,” they explained. “Whoever is there, is meant to be there. It’s a celebration, not a sad farewell.”

To make their final show even more special, Las Fenix invited friends and fellow musicians to join them on stage. Grupo Control, who played an instrumental role in their musical beginnings, will be there, along with Rudy Olivares, the son of the late “King of Cumbia”, Fito Olivares, and Dwayne Verheyden. Dwayne, who collaborated with the group on the hit song “Prendo Del Alma”, will perform with them one last time during the concert.

San Antonio, with its long history of supporting the band, was chosen as the location for their final show. “Even though we’re from Houston, the love and support we’ve received from San Antonio has been unmatched,” Las Fenix said. “The energy in San Antonio has always been different and special. We knew we had to end it there.”

Reflecting on their 25 years in music, Las Fenix spoke fondly of the memories that shaped their journey. “Opening for legends like Bronco and Los Tigres del Norte… those were the moments we’ll never forget,” they shared. “And knowing that some of the biggest artists in the industry know who we are is something we’ll always cherish.”

One sister, Lesli, shared a personal moment about being able to bring her children on the road. “It was special for me because my kids got to experience what I did my whole life. Now they can tell their kids, ‘I saw mom perform!’ It’s a beautiful memory for me.”

Though they’re leaving the stage, the bond between the sisters remains strong. “We’ve spent our entire lives together. We’ve traveled, worked, and supported each other through the ups and downs. Our bond is unbreakable, and we’ll still be in each other’s lives. This isn’t the end of us as a family, just the end of our music career together.”

As Las Fenix gear up for their final performance, they are filled with gratitude for the fans who have supported them throughout their journey. “We’ve received nothing but love and support from our fans,” they said. “Thank you for being part of this incredible journey for 25 years.”

Fans are encouraged to get their tickets now for what promises to be a historic farewell concert. Tickets for “El Último Vuelo” are available at majesticempire.com.

Las Fenix may be retiring from the music industry, but their legacy will live on, and the memories of their incredible journey will stay in the hearts of Tejano music fans forever.
