Las Fenix, the beloved Tejano group composed of five sisters from Houston, has announced the addition of Rudy Olivares, son of the late music legend Fito Olivares, to the lineup for their final concert, “El Último Vuelo.” The group, who announced their retirement from music in November, will take the stage one last time on Sunday, December 29th, at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas.

In a heartfelt statement, Las Fenix shared their excitement about Rudy Olivares joining the concert: “What a pleasure to announce that our friend of many years Rudy Olivares will also be joining us on Sunday, December 29th in San Antonio, TX for our last concert at the Majestic Theatre! Son of the King Of Cumbia! Fito Olivares May he rest in peace. Someone who at the beginning of our career didn’t hesitate to support us and with whom we share nice moments. It will be an honor to remember him on this special night. Don’t miss it!”

Fito Olivares, affectionately known as the “King of Cumbia,” was a significant supporter of Las Fenix when they began their musical journey 25 years ago. His son, Rudy Olivares, is a Latin Grammy-winning producer and musician, continuing his father’s legacy in the music industry.

The final concert will also feature performances by Grupo Control, known as “Los Reyes de la Cumbia,” and Dwayne Verheyden, a talented accordionist from the Netherlands who has made a name for himself in the Tejano and Tex-Mex music genres.

Las Fenix, composed of sisters Nadia, Lesli, Adela, Berna, and Anahi, have been a staple in the Tejano music scene for over two decades. Known for their energetic performances and catchy tunes, the group has captivated audiences with their unique blend of Tejano, Norteño, and Cumbia music. Their journey began in their hometown of Houston, Texas, where they quickly gained popularity and a loyal fan base. Over the years, Las Fenix has released numerous albums and hit singles, earning them a special place in the hearts of Tejano music lovers.

The group shared the surprising news of their retirement via social media on November 11, expressing their gratitude to their fans, family, and supporters: “Music has been a part of our lives for more than 25 years, but each beginning has an end. First of all, thank you so much to God, our parents, our family, our husbands, and all of you for your unconditional support. Thank you so much for allowing us to make the stage our home and share so many unforgettable moments. Thanks to music, we have an unbreakable bond, and nothing or no one can take that away from us. We will always carry music with us. And the beautiful memories. The time has come to say goodbye to the stage. With a lot of peace in our hearts, we announce our official retirement. There are not enough words to express our gratitude, and first of all, thank you so much for your understanding, and know that we always carry you in our hearts. And for the last time, a kiss. With a lot of love, your friends, Las Fenix.”
