Sunny Sauceda Wins Tejano Category at Texas Country Music Awards 2024

Fort Worth, Texas — In a historic moment for Tejano music, Sunny Sauceda has won the inaugural Tejano Category at the 2024 Texas Country Music Awards. The event, produced by the Texas Country Music Association (TCMA), took place at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth on Sunday, November 10.

This marks the first time Tejano music has been recognized at the TCMAs, with nominees including the Art Tigerina BandChente BarreraGrupo Stampede, and Jay Perez.

“Texas is so blessed to have such spectacular talent,” said Linda Wilson, President and Founder of the Texas Country Music Association. “There were literally thousands of nominees – each one gifted and unique — and we at TCMA are very honored to be able to work on ALL their behalf on an ongoing basis.”

The introduction of the Tejano category was spearheaded by Wilson, with assistance from Sauceda. The three-time Grammy-winning Tejano and Country artist also made history by becoming the first Tejano artist to kick off the TCMA weekend with a live performance at the Fort Worth Stockyards on Friday night.

The Texas Country Music Awards is the only trade organization and primary advocate for the Texas Country music industry, recognized by the State of Texas. The TCMA is the largest and most influential organization for Texas Country Music. For the full list of winners, visit texascountrymusic.org.
