Rita Bernal Announces Upcoming EP produced by Abraham Quinanilla

YouTube / Domingo Live – KIII 3 News

Rita Bernal, daughter of the legendary Conjunto Bernal member Eloy Bernal, recently joined Domingo Live to share exciting news about her upcoming EP, produced by Q Productions. During her appearance, Rita spoke with hosts Rudy Trevino and Barbi Leo about the highly anticipated project, which is produced by Abraham Quintanilla and engineered by Brian “Red” Moore.

Rita expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I want to say thank you to Mr. Quintanilla, Mr. Q, as we call him, for this opportunity to be able to record. I’ve done backup vocals for so many years, but this time, he says, ‘I’m going to record you.’ I felt honored. And we’ve been working on it for a while. He picked all the songs that he took them out, then gave me some new ones. It’s been a work in progress that we’re finally done with it. So hopefully soon, we’ll get that out. But I just want to say thank you to everybody at Q Productions, and especially Mr. Quintanilla, and Red, of course, for recording me and having the patience in the studio.”

Rita also shared some heartfelt advice her late father gave her, “There’s so many things, right? Of course, if you’re going to sing, sing with all of your heart. If you’re not going to do it with all of your heart, then don’t bother. And he would say, this is a God-given talent, and so use it, but do it with all of your heart. Everything that you do in life, you’re going to do with all your heart, if not.”

Reflecting on her time performing with her father, Rita recounted a fond memory, “I traveled with him when I was 19 to 23, until he passed away. And that was always my dream. And I will say this quick little story. He needed someone to sing with him, and he didn’t know that I knew all the parts. And he needed someone, like the next day, they were going to go on a two-week tour. I tried it, and he just let go of his bajo. He looks up at me, and he’s like, ‘I’ve had you right here under my nose the whole time. Who taught you that?’ I go, ‘Dad, I’ve been practicing for years with all of your recordings.’ So yeah, it was so amazing. It was my dream come true to sing with my dad, to be able to record with my dad, and to see how the people just responded to his music, to who he was as a person. He had love for people. He had love for what he did, love for God. And it shows all these years later, people still talk about that.”
