Fans of lates Latin music icon Selena have a reason to celebrate as the 30-th anniversary remastered version of her iconic album, Amor Prohibido, makes its No. 1 debut on Billboard’s Vinyl Albums chart. Released via Capitol Latin/UMLE, this marks the second Latin album to debut atop the list in 2024, following Kali Uchis’ Orquídeas, according to Billboard.
Luminate reports Amor Prohibido sold 10,000 vinyl copies in the U.S. during the July 5-11 tracking week, nearly doubling Selena’s previous record. The album was pressed on four vinyl variants, including a Target-exclusive pink edition and a Spotify-exclusive coke bottle clear edition.
The latest edition of Amor Prohibido has been released on CD, cassette (exclusively through Selena’s webstore), and digital download. For tracking and charting purposes, all editions, both previous and current, are aggregated. The 2024 editions preserve the original track list of the ten-song album from 1994.

In addition to its success on the Vinyl Albums chart, Amor Prohibido re-enters Top Album Sales at No. 4 and climbs on Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts. Originally released in 1994, the album became the first Tejano album to reach No. 1 on Top Latin Albums, with hits like “Amor Prohibido,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” and “No Me Queda Más.”
