Conjunto music sensation JR Gomez y Los Conjunto Bandits have released their latest EP, “From Somewhere In Texas,” available now on all digital music platforms. The new six-track EP is a unique blend of live performances and studio tracks, showcasing the band’s versatility and passion for their craft.

In a recent interview with the “It’s Tejano Time” Podcast, Gomez shared some insights about the new EP. “Yeah, it’s some live stuff and then we did some studio tracks. So it’s more of an EP. We have some more music coming out very soon. So it’s gonna be awesome and be good,” he said. The band recorded some parts of the album in front of a live audience, a fact they kept secret until now. “We set up our own mics to the crowd. We did our own stuff and brought it upon ourselves, you know, some live,” Gomez added.

Fans can expect more new music soon from the band. Gomez also revealed that he’s working on a collaboration with A.B. Quintanilla III. Gomez, who is a former member of Los Kumbia All-Starz is rejoining Quintanilla for a new track. “Yeah, me and A.B. are gonna work on something together. It’s not out and he’s in the studio right now. So, after about seven years, since I’ve been away from A.B., we’re gonna do something together and it’s going to be awesome,” Gomez said.

Born and raised in Plainview, Texas, Gomez developed a love for music in church, where he watched family members play. At just 8 years old, he started honing his accordion skills, which remain his main instrument today. Gomez is also proficient in piano, bajo sexto, drums, and bass guitar. His big break came when he joined the popular Tejano band La Fiebre in 1996. His debut album, “Cervezas y Gritos,” blends traditional Tex-Mex and conjunto styles with a fresh energy reminiscent of Tejano hits from the ’80s and ’90s. Gomez won Best New Male Artist at the 40th annual Tejano Music Awards, and Los Conjunto Bandits also took home the award for Best New Group.

The “From Somewhere in Texas” EP was released on Baby Grand Records and produced by Mario Ortiz. This new release will excite Conjunto music fans and promises a bright future for JR Gomez y Los Conjunto Bandits. Stay tuned for more updates and new music from this dynamic band.
