In a surprising turn of events, Grammy-winning artist A.B. Quintanilla III was removed from the lineup for the annual Memorial Weekend Bash in Victoria, Texas. Quintanilla took to Instagram to express his shock and disappointment over the cancellation.

“For those saying I have no band as you can see, I got a solid-sounding band playing 90 minutes of back-to-back hits that you my friends have made #1. As for my friends in Victoria and Salazar Promotions I was shocked to find out on the internet I would not be performing for unforeseen circumstances. The question I have is what is an unforeseen circumstance out of control??? Is Victoria expecting a tornado, Hurricane, earthquake, flooding, or hailstorm??? Whatever the case my band and I were ready to perform…Wishing everyone a great Memorial Day weekend,” Quintanilla said in his statement.

Frank Salazar, owner of Salazar Promotions and event organizer for the Memorial Weekend Bash, shared a video statement on social media a few days earlier. “I regret to announce A.B. Quintanilla and the Kumbia Allstarz will not be performing this weekend due to unforeseen circumstances out of our control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Salazar said.

This news comes after Quintanilla’s highly publicized onstage rant where he expressed frustration with non-participating fans during the Tejano Explosion concert in San Antonio on April 27. He had apologized for his actions at the San Antonio concert in a now-deleted social media post, explaining he was not taking prescribed medication for mental health struggles because of a biopsy for possible cancer.

Despite Quintanilla’s absence, the Memorial Weekend Bash, scheduled for Sunday, May 26, will continue as planned. The lineup for Sunday includes headliners La MafiaElida ReynaJennifer Pena, and more. Other performers during the weekend include David Lee Garza Y Los MusicalesDueloMike Gonzalez & The Iconiczz, SiggnoJay PerezMassoreRam HerreraRicardo Castillon y La DiferenziaMadison PulidoLos Delta BoysLucky Joe, and Jenny B.

The annual Memorial Weekend Bash is a three-day event that celebrates Tejano music and culture. It draws fans from across the state and beyond, making it one of the most anticipated events in the Tejano music calendar. Despite the unexpected lineup change, the event promises to be a memorable one for Tejano music enthusiasts.
