Tejano music icon Jay Perez, affectionately known as “The Voice,” has shared a health update following his recent hospitalization for knee pain. In a heartfelt message on social media, Perez announced that he is now home from the hospital and on the road to recovery with plans to return to the stage this week.

“I wanted to let everyone know I’m home from the hospital,” Perez wrote. “With lots of help from (wife) Roxy and my physical therapist. I will be singing at all of my shows this weekend.”

Perez revealed that he has a torn meniscus, but fortunately, it does not require surgery. Instead, he will undergo physical therapy, rest, and ice treatment for about six weeks. Despite the injury, Perez reassured fans that his vocal cords are unaffected and that he will continue to perform, albeit with some adjustments.

“My performances might look a little different for a little while as I will probably be on a stool and might have a brace on, but the problem is NOT with my vocal cords it’s with my knee! I’ll see y’all Thursday at Smoke here in San Antonio and Friday in Victoria,” he added.

Perez also expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support from his fans. “I wanted to show some love to our fans that sent prayers our way. Y’all are simply the best! Since we posted the little video, over 100,000 of you have viewed it and shared with family and friends. We love you and thank you for showing luv. All your prayers have been answered along with ours.”

Perez had to postpone his show in Fort Worth, Texas, on May 18 due to his condition, which was painful enough to prevent him from walking. However, he remains optimistic about his recovery and is looking forward to returning to the stage.

“We knew it wasn’t arthritis from the jump! We also had a feeling going into the hospital it was something serious. Well, it was a slight tear in the meniscus just like we thought. Luckily it wasn’t serious enough for surgery. So, we’re grateful for that! Thank God. I have a lot of pressure behind my left knee still. Therapy is going as it should, six more weeks and I’ll be almost back to full force,” Perez concluded.

Despite the setback, Perez’s spirit remains unbroken, and his dedication to his fans is unwavering. As he continues his recovery, the Tejano community and his fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting his return to the stage, where “The Voice” will once again resonate.
