After over two decades away from the Tejano music scene, Culturas is set to reacquaint themselves with fans amidst the release of a new album92/24, and a return to performing. The band’s members, Delia Gonzales and Dee Burleson, recently shared a video on social media, expressing their emotions and thoughts before their return to the stage this summer at the 20th anniversary of Vegas Tejano Takeover in Las Vegas, Nevada.

When asked about their feelings of their much-anticipated return, Delia confessed, “For me, I’m nervous. I’m excited. I’m happy.” Dee echoed her sentiments, stating, “I guess relief, excitement, joy, because working with Delia has always been effortless and we can read each other, put it that way.”

However, the duo also acknowledged the challenges they face. Delia admitted her unfamiliarity with social media, saying, “The social media. I have no idea how that works. I’m familiar with Facebook. I’m familiar with TikTok and all that. But I’m illiterate when it comes to social media. I have no idea how to even comment.” Dee pointed out the logistical issues and the impact of age, “I think the obstacle we’ve faced so far has been the distance between all of us in the band for us to get together to rehearse and plan the shows. The second obstacle has been our age. The five of us have been 20 plus years. People are going to wonder, are they still going to do backflips off the stage and that sort of thing? We’re older, we’re wiser, and we’re going to have a lot of fun. That’s what being on stage is about, is having fun. So, but age does factor a little bit into it.”

Despite these obstacles, both Delia and Dee are looking forward to their return. Delia said, “I look forward to being on stage. That’s one thing that I’ve always loved about being in the Tejano business, and that is being up on stage and performing for the people. And I’m looking forward to that. I really am.” Dee added, “My personal thoughts? I’m not worried about anything. Stage is where we’re the most comfortable. It’s where we come alive. It’s what we do naturally. Being on stage is what’s more fun. It’s more us than being off stage.”

The band is set to kick off their tour in Las Vegas, a decision that excites them. Delia said, “Well, kicking off the tour in Las Vegas is super exciting. We are very happy to be a part of this year’s Tejano Takeover in Las Vegas.” Dee added, “For me, what’s exciting about Las Vegas is, it’s Sin City. Keeping track of the guys is going to be the hardest part because gambling, casinos, shows. Who knows? But we will have a lot of fun Friday, July the 12th. We will be performing for the very first time in 20 plus years.”

Above all, Culturas wants to thank their fans for their unwavering support. Delia concluded, “We really want to thank our fans, everybody who has supported us through the years. And just recently, we have felt so much love and great positive energy towards us. And we really appreciate that. We want to be able to give something back to you. So, we’re looking forward to the live performances so that we are allowed that opportunity to share some time and memories, make some new memories with you.”

Culturas will perform at the Gran Baile on Friday, July 12 at the 20th anniversary of Tejano Takeover in Las Vegas and the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. This event marks a significant milestone in their journey, and fans are eagerly awaiting their return to the stage. For more information on Vegas Tejano Takeover, visit VegasTejano.com.
