Culturas first made their mark in the Tejano music scene with their self-titled debut album in 1992. The band was recognized by the Tejano Music Awards as “Most Promising Band of the Year” in 1993 and as “Show Band of the Year” in 1995.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including health issues and career shifts, the band members have remained resilient. Delia Gonzales, for instance, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 1996 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2008. She has since chosen a career in nursing and has been an advocate and fundraiser for victims of kidney disease.
