Rigo Navaira, the brother and bandmate of Destiny Navaira, has officially announced that he will be releasing a solo project. The talented musician, who earned a Latin Grammy nomination for his work with his sister, has learned a lot from the past couple of years and is ready to pursue his own musical vision.

“I have learned a lot from the past couple of years of what kind of artist I want to be. In the time I have spent producing and writing alongside my sister I was able to learn from incredible producers and musicians. I truly believe I found the path I want to take on my musical journey with this EP.” he tells Tejano Nation.

The project, which is still untitled, is being produced by Alfonso Herrera and under the Unimusik label, based in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Navaira moved to Mexico to explore his heritage and find inspiration for his songs.

“Living in another country and diving into my Mexican heritage really ignited a creative side to me. I’ve been inspired by different genres from all over the world. Alongside my producer Alfonso Herrera and my team Manuel HerreraFrankie ChavezLuke Salas and my sister Destiny, I can truly sculpt my songs into something that expresses who I am,” he said.

Navaira hinted that new music can be expected early 2024. He also said that his music will not be traditionally Tejano, but rather a blend of different influences from Texas and beyond.

“I think that music is becoming something that doesn’t need to be constrained by a genre. I like to tell people that my music is from Texas. Texas is a melting pot of musical influences. Pop, Rock, R&B, Country and Tejano. My music will stay true to my roots. Who I am, where I come from, and the experiences I have gained throughout my life. A new sound is my goal. Something fresh. Something that everyone can relate to and enjoy, not just Texas and Mexico,” he said.
