A founding member of El Plan has left the Latin Grammy-winning group for personal reasons, according to a statement released today (May 6).
Cesar R. Alcala Medrano, percussionist and founding member of the Tejano band from Monterrey, Mexico, left on the best terms in a mutual agreement, said the statement.
“We wish you all the success in your future projects. Thank you, “Chino”, for your delivery and professionalism,” said the group’s statement via Google tranlsate.
El Plan will continue ahead with the scheduled dates of their 2023 tour as well as recording new music and collaborations.
The group won Best Tejano Album at the 22nd annual Latin Grammy Awards for their album Pa’ La Pista Y Pa’l Pisto, Vol. 2 in 2021. It was their first Latin Grammy win for the group with Tejano stylings from Monterrey, Mexico, and the third consecutive nomination for El Plan in the Best Tejano Album category since 2019. The group’s previous albums Siete and Pa’ La Pista Y Pa’l Pisto, Vol. 1 were nominated in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
