Award-winning Tejano singer Tristan Ramos is recovering after emergency brain surgery on Friday. The youngest male artist to win a Tejano Music Award shared the news via social media from a hospital bed after the surgery.
“It was unexpected. I got really sick, real dizzy. I came to the hospital unexpectedly and they told me I was going to have to have emergency brain surgery,” said Ramos in the video. “With the grace of God, I’m still here. I’m still standing, anything is possible with God.”
He thanked fans, Siggno frontman Jesse Turner, and Magic 106.9 FM morning host Jennifer “Chismosa” Martinez for continued prayers. The accordionist will share more details on his recovery over the next few days.
Ramos was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and a brain tumor in 2018 and received two major brain surgeries. Ramos didn’t let that bring him down he continued his music career with these health issues, never losing faith, and worked hard to show the world that with God he could conquer anything he put his mind to. He continues to spread awareness for hydrocephalus and brain tumors.
At the age of 13, Ramos was the youngest male artist to win a Tejano Music Award and the youngest to have performed at Vegas Tejano Music Week in Las Vegas. He is also the youngest to have his own record label and the youngest to be endorsed by an accordion company, music company, and hat company.
At seven years old, he decided to be a musician, proving to the world that he wasn’t too young for anything. He began his career touring with AJ Castillo’s band for a few years and at the age of 11, he decided to venture on his own. He released his debut album, El Principio, and won his first award at the age of 13, Best New Male Artist at the Tejano Music Awards in 2019.
Ramos released his second album, Mediante, in 2021 with 16 songs. He is currently working on his third album with his brothers Dylan and Mason.
