Tejano superstar Shelly Lares was named honorary grand marshal for the 75th diamond jubilee edition of the Fiesta Flambeau Parade in San Antonio, Texas, next month, organizers announced on Wednesday (March 22).
The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association revealed the news during a press conference at historic Market Square for the largest illuminated night parade in America, which take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023 in downtown San Antonio.
Lares, also known as Little Miss Dynamite, celebrated 40 years in Tejano music last year and the San Antonio singer received many nominations and awards for the Tejano Music Awards, Pura Vida Awards, Premios Tejano Mundial, and many others. She was inducted into the Tejano ROOTS Hall of Fame in 2007.

“We’re going to be bringing in Fiesta 2023 really strong and I just want to say what an honor it is for me to be the honorary grand marshal, especially being born and raised in San Antonio,” said Lares during the announcement. “I’ve represented Tejano music for 40 years all over the world which means I represent San Antonio everywhere I have gone. I’m looking forward to it. Thank you, guys, so much for this honor, and viva Fiesta guys!”
Danilo Carrera was named grand marshal for the parade. The award-winning actor and model from Ecuador is best known for his roles in telenovelas on Telemundo and Univision.
The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association is non-profit, volunteer organization with the mission to plan, organize, produce, and stage the Fiesta Flambeau Parade annually during the 11-day event of FiestaSan Antonio to enhance the celebration for the San Antonio community and its visitors.
