Alfredo Guerrero has continued the legacy of the legendary Chicano Tejano band Tortilla Factory and his father, Tony “Ham” Guerrero, creating his own mark in the Tejano industry.
In 2017, Alfredo confided to Tejano Nation regarding his time in a drug and alcohol rehab center. He has suffered numerous losses with the passing of his father in 2011, the 2016 death of the legendary Bobby Butler, known as El Charro Negro, and in 2020 his daughter, Mikayla, and granddaughter, Savannah, died in a tragic auto accident. Being immersed in the pain, it is easy to cope with a great loss by using drugs or alcohol. Alfredo has found healing in acceptance, God, self-reflection, and music. Many fans have been inspired by Alfredo’s testimony.
Despite the heartache, Alfredo has been blessed with many musical opportunities. Recently Alfredo was called by the office of the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, asking to see him. Alfredo states, “At first I was scared, like, did I do something wrong? I went down there and they took me into his office and, you know, I’ve never met him before. Governor Abbott comes out and addresses me. ‘Alfredo, we here at the State Capitol would like to honor you with this.'”
It was a 50th Anniversary recognition by the State of Texas celebrating five decades of Tortilla Factory music and proclaiming February 17, 2023, as Tortilla Factory Day. Alfredo became very emotional and cried.

Tortilla Factory is scheduled to perform at Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair on March 17, 2023, at 5:20 pm at the Gateway Bridge. Presenting the Proclamation will be the well-known radio personality Jonny Ramirez, morning host at San Antonio radio station Tejano 95.7/103.3 FM. Alfredo is grateful to Ramirez for being the first to play his debut single with the next generation of Tortilla Factory, “Mamacita” featuring Zavala, Rick Balderama, and Julio El Catras. It was written by Gabriel Zavala, Julis El Catras, and Jose Rosario. “Mamacita” reached the top spot of the Latin Groove International Top 20 Countdown.

Alfredo shields himself with his spirituality and the armor of God. Healing thru music is a process that has been a sacred and resurrected growth. Recognizing his strengths and how his story has helped to heal others has been a God send.
