Jay Perez is excited to return to the stage later this month after the award-winning singer had successful vocal cord surgery earlier this month.
“I am GOOD TO GO! My vocal cords are as smooth as a baby’s Butt! Bring on 2023! Thank you to all of our fans for the prayers for me,” Perez shared via social media on Wednesday (Jan. 18).
“The Voice” announced earlier this month that he would require the procedure. “I’ve been having problems with my left vocal cord for about a year now and I finally got the courage to go and see my ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist),” Perez said via an audio message.
The recovery from the procedure for the 59-year-old vocalist was expected to take several weeks and the 12-time Tejano Music Awards Male Vocalist of the Year received the green light from his doctor to begin performing once again. Perez plans to return to the stage on January 27 for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo BBQ Cookoff in San Antonio, Texas.
The five-time Latin Grammy-nominated singer thanked his doctor and staff, plus his wife Roxy for support during recovery.
Perez began his career as the lead vocalist of legendary groups Latin Breed and David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales, going solo in 1993. He recently announced a new album for 2023, which will be his “best album in 30 years.”
