SAN ANTONIO, TX — Karla Christina is set to drop her latest single, “Por Qué Me Fui A Enamorar De Ti,” on Friday (Jan. 13). It is a bolero cover of the song by Latin GRAMMY-winning Chilean singer Mon Laferte, which featured a Tropical sound.

The song, which the translated title means “Why Did I fall In Love With You,” describes a prohibited and clandestine love.

“Although the intentions were not to hurt, she does not regret this prohibited love and says that if she could love him all over again, she would,” Karla Christina says of her upcoming release.

In July, the Nevada-raised singer, who moved to San Antonio a year ago, performed an acoustic version of the song with accompanied by Diego Garcia on guitar at The Chingona Party featuring Sonja De La Paz and Karla Christina in Laredo last year. The performance received the attention of many radio DJs and persons in the industry.

“I received quite a few messages from different people in the industry suggesting that this was a style and genre that truly showcased my voice,” said Karla Christina. “Little did any of these folks know that I have always enjoyed singing a variety of genres, but I have always been especially passionate and drawn to boleros, and romantic ballads. I agree that ballads can demonstrate someone’s vocal ability and technique in ways an up-tempo song perhaps lacks.”

The track features talented Tejano musicians Miguel HernándezCarlos “Pops” Neri, and Diego Garcia, who also produced the song. “When I spoke to Diego about this song and what I had in mind, he said that in his mind he could hear an upright bass, the possibility of some orchestral strings, and other sounds,” commented Karla Christina. “Diego really turned this into a masterpiece, and I am beyond grateful that I had the opportunity to have him produce this song.”

“I respect Diego and his work so much, and I hope that I have the opportunity to work with him again in the near future,” she added. “I hope my supportive listeners and followers enjoy this song that we all poured our hearts into. I hope this song provides an opportunity for folks to hear a new, romantic, and passionate side of me and my voice.”

Karla Christina shared the eye-catching cover art for the upcoming single “Por Qué Me Fui A Enamorar De Ti,” which was created using an AI app. It will be available on all digital music platforms on Friday, January 13, 2023.
