South TX Homies followed up their Latin Grammy-nominated debut album, It’s Time, with the release of Una Promesa, which reached the top spot of the iTunes Regional Mexican Albums chart and No. 4 on the iTunes Latin Albums chart a day after its release.
South TX Homies accordionist Anthony Trevino shared details on the new album with Tejano Nation. “I would have to say it’s still Conjunto, it’s still in your face. It has a really good vibe to it. We put a lot of time and effort into this one. The way scheduling works for us is very hard because none of us live together, we’re within four hours of each other. So, just being able to put out something as good as this album is going to be it just took a lot of time and effort and we really feel that people are going to love this album. It’s an awesome album.”
The album was produced by Richard Rosales of Grupo Siggno at Mazmorra Studios in McQueeney, Texas.
“We did a change in production and it was phenomenal. It was great, Richard is a very intelligent guy. He was there to guide us through a few things. He put in his two cents where it was needed, definitely. It was just an overall great experience. We are very excited for this album,” said Trevino.
Lead vocalist Andrew Rodriguez wrote seven songs on the album. Trevino wrote one song and composer Samuel Rubio wrote another, with two cover songs to fill the 12-track album.
The latest single released from the album is the title track, “Una Promesa,” which was written by Rodriguez and inspired by his wife that passed away a few years ago. The song debuted at No. 16 on the iTunes Latin Singles chart.
