San Antonio’s native sons The Last Bandoleros will embrace their roots with the Tex-Mex pop rock band’s upcoming album Tex Flex, due out June 30, 2022.
The Last Bandoleros are a trio that includes Diego Navaira on vocals/bass, Emilio Navaira on vocals/drums, and Jerry Fuentes on vocals/guitar. The band has been turning heads with their accomplished musicianship and impressive harmonies opening for Sting, The Mavericks, Los Lobos, and Dwight Yoakum.
“The album finds us embracing our roots and culture more than ever before,” Emilio tells Tejano Nation. “By mixing it with our American pop influences and three-part harmonies, we find a way to make it sound fresh. We call it Tex Flex.”

Their alluring sound – a mix of Texas roots and modern Latin flavor – which the band calls “Tex-Flex” – has built them a fervent following.
“We’ve been working on this since the top of the year and, funnily enough, our whole lives,” the band said. “Tex Flex is us leading with our culture and having fun doing so – weaving in and out of English and Spanish the way our grandparents and parents spoke to us and using the slang our older cousins taught us combined with a Latin vibe/feel and American pop.”

A video trailer released for the upcoming album is a spoof of early 2000s infomercials with a voiceover by the one and only Raulito Navaira.
