James Arreola of Los Palominos updated fans on the latest news from the GRAMMY-winning group in an interview with Tejano Nation contributor Lily Marie at Tejano Explosion in San Antonio, Texas on April 7.
Arreola revealed the group, who were recently honored in their hometown of Uvalde as part of a 40-foot mural, will release a new album this Spring. It will be the first album released since Johnny Arreola left the group to record Christian music.

“We had to kind of regroup and figure out what we were going to do,” said James Arreola. “We took the beginning of last year to rehearse and then we finally put some (tour) dates on the calendar in July and then in September we surged again with COVID. So, it feels great to be back.”
He continued, “It’s different for us, of course, adjusting because we’re used to my older brother (Johnny) being the one in the middle and being part of the band. We’ve been playing together for 30-plus years. It’s been an adjustment.”
Los Palominos moved drummer Julio Arreola to accordion taking over for Johnny and added a new drummer. The band plans to celebrate their 30th year in Tejano music at Vegas Tejano Music Week on Friday, July 8, 2022, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Nortex Live! in Monterrey, Mexico, on July 30, 2022.
