It’s a ‘Girls Night’ for debut album from Tejano newcomer Angélica

Tejano newcomerAngélicahas released her debut albumGirls Night, an album that was an “accidental project,” according to the talented singer.

The San Antonio native has been singing since she was a young girl, most recently with a couple of cover bands. Her debut album happened by accident after she walked intoSlackmonster Studiosearlier this year to help a friend with a project when producerSevero “Sevy’ Contrerasnoticed her talented vocals.

“I call myself the accidental project because I just happened to walk into Sevy’s studio,” Angélica tellsTejano Nation.

After completing the project, Contreras knew that Angélica needed to record her own compilation of songs. The album,Girls Night, was recorded throughout 2021.

Angélica shared the meaning behind the album’s title. “Well, you know I’m a fun kind of girl,” she said jokingly. “No, I have been surrounded by a lot of friends who have supported this musical journey that I’ve been on for a long time. I wanted to dedicate something for the girls, you know my girlfriends and gals, who have always been there for me.”

After performing with the popular San Antonio cover bandVelvetfor many years, Angélica is excited to enter the Tejano music industry. “Now, getting into Tejano music, it’s like full circle,” she said. “It’s exactly what my grandparents used to listen to. It just feels like Tejano music and Latin music is what is in my heart. I’m just excited to be performing in the genre now. You know, let’s see what we can with it.”
