Joe Villanuevais known asTejano Bluesmanand the Houston-based singer, and guitarist perfectly combines blues with Tejano and Chicano culture for his debut albumTas Loca Babyreleased on April 1.
The collection of tunes features many Tejano stars including collaborations withDemmi Garcia,Shelly Lares,Hugo Guerrero,Chris QuirogaofAvizo, and many more.
“There’s a lot of other musical guests on there as far as musicianwise,” Villanueva tells Tejano Nation about his debut album. “It’s a pretty power-packed CD. I’m surprised and just thankful to God that I was able to get that many people’s support for the first time out of the box.”
Villanueva is known as the “Tejano Bluesman” because he was raised on blues music along with Tejano and Chicano culture.
“That’s what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to do the Tejano, blues, Chicano kind of deal,” added Villanueva. “So that way maybe I appeal to three different audiences or something to that matter. That’s my goal.”

His debut single and title track, “Tas Loca Baby,” showcases his unique sound and details the long-established tale of a relationship.
“You know when you’re in that first relationship, especially young relationships and get to where it’s all about the women controlling everything and in the longer relationship where you’ve been married for years it doesn’t matter what the woman does now, you still love her,” said Villanueva. “Basically that was what the whole deal about it was no matter what I tell you you’re still going to give me a hassle but I still love you anyway at the end of the day.”
