Two-time Latin GRAMMY-winning groupElida Reyna Y Avantehas returned with the release of a new single and video, “Voy A Estar Bien,” a mid-tempo cumbia that features a message of female empowerment and remaining positive through difficult times.
“It’s an uplifting kind of song,” Elida Reyna tellsTejano Nation. “Basically about a girl that’s not treated the way she deserves to be treated in a relationship. She finally realizes she’s done and she deserves better. She doesn’t look back, she’s looking forward. In a lot of ways this song, you know, as far as ‘Voy A Estar Bien,’ I mean we’ve had a hell of two years with COVID and everything. It’s also a message, while we’re going through some hard times we’re all going to be okay.”
The song was co-written by emerging Mexican songwritersMiguel ZolaandAdrian Guerra.
“They had given us another song that we fell in love with and when we called them to ask if we could record it, they had already given it to another band. So we were bummed about it and he says, ‘Don’t worry about it, we’re going to write you a better song,’ and I was like I don’t know, nothing could to what I heard,” said Reyna.
The songwriting duo wrote “Voy A Estar Bien” with Elida Reyna in mind.
“(They) sent it and we were blown away,” said Reyna. “We were in the studio the following week. That’s how excited we were to record it. We just knew that we had a good thing on our hands.”
