Tejano icon Chris Perez launches new label, Blue Mariachi, signs 1st artist

SAN ANTONIO, TX — (PR Distribution) — Legendary guitarist and Grammy award-winning Tejano musician Chris Perézand partnerCarlito Miranda announceBlue Mariachi Productions, a new TV, Film, and Music Production studio, and the signing of their first Tejano hip hop artist, ZEUS. El Mero Necio.

Peréz and his team have helped shape the Tejano music history on stage and alongside other iconic musicians for over 30 years. From his early days with Los Dinos to the swinging hits of the Kumbia Kings, Peréz is behind many unforgettable classics. Under the production studio’s umbrella, Blue MariachiRecords will continue this legacy by introducing a new era of Tejano music, with artists who are reigniting the sounds of our past. 

“To record, write, play with, support, and introduce new artists and musicians is the ultimate endeavor for me and I’m looking forward to the future our Blue Mariachi team is building,” said Peréz. “We welcome our first artist, ZEUS. El Mero Necio!”

Peréz has been on stage for some of the most iconic moments in Tejano and knows who lives up to the spirit of Tejano artists, past and present. With his leadership at the label, these new artists will bridge the gap for generations who love Tejano and are listening for the first time. 

Teaming up with longtime collaborator and Grammy/BMI award-winning songwriter/producerRobert Gomez III(Daddy Yankee,Kumbia Kings), Blue Mariachi Productions enters the arena, fusing decades of timeless moments in Latino music to introduce the world to a new generation of Tejanos. On the frontlines of this movement will be Blue Mariachi’s first signee, Tejano Hip-Hop artist ZEUS. El Mero Necio.

About ZEUS. 

Born in Madrid Spain and raised in Brownsville, Texas, Carlos Servando Cavazos, or “Carlton Zeus,” performs as ZEUS. El Mero Necio. A U.S. Air Force Veteran and Mexican-American hip hop artist, his delivery, and eclectic play on all things Tex-Mex has earned him a top spot among independent Texas musicians. ZEUS has been hailed as the Freddy Fender of hip hop and his independent release “Three Strikes You’re In,” and the famous “Necio Cumbia,” are South Texas anthems played across festivals, quinceñera’s, backyard barbecues, and border clubs alike.

His upcoming project The United States of Tejas is inspired by ZEUS’s journey to reconnect with his roots in the Rio Grande Valley prior to his departure for U.S. military service. He takes us along to discover the sights, smells, and sounds of our rich musical heritage in Texas, while adding that touch of ZEUS along the way. Several tracks on the cumbia-infused and genre-bending album are being produced by multi-platinum and Grammy Award-winning producer Happy Perez (Ariana Grande,The Weeknd,Miguel,Halsey,Juice WRLD,Lana Del Rey), El DustySteveo Valdez (Maroon 5, Lil Wayne, MGK) and BlueMariachi’s Robert Gomez III with Chris Peréz on guitar.
