Javier Galvan hospitalized with injuries after involved in fatal crash

Javier Galvanis hospitalized with serious injuries after the 51-year-old singer and radio host was involved in a fatal fiery crash near Winters, Texas on Sunday night.

A preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said an SUV, driven by Galvan, was traveling east on SH 153, while an SUV carrying five people, driven by Marisa B. Ramos of Plainview, was traveling west around 10:19 pm Sunday night.

Galvan tried to pass several vehicles and struck Ramos’ vehicle head-on causing the vehicle to catch fire, according to the report. Ramos, and two of her passengers, Cissy L. Ramos and Adalynn R. Muniz, 7, both of Plainview, died in the collision.

Galvan was taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with serious and incapacitating injuries. Two of Ramos’ passengers, 9 and 12 year old siblings Kolbie and Keelie Ramos, were also taken to Hendrick Medical Center with critical injuries.

The report said Galvan was wearing a seat belt in the crash and it is unknown whether anyone in Ramos’ vehicle were wearing their seat belts.

The crash remains under DPS investigation.Tejano Nationwill have more information as it becomes available.

Galvan is an award-winning singer, songwriter and founding member of the internationally acclaimed groupFama. After 25 years with the group, he decided to retire in 2009 to spend more time with his family and pursue a calling to serve the Lord as a full-time Christian minister. His ministry work took him throughout the United States, Mexico, Central America and South America. He most recently took his ministry to the airwaves as host of the syndicated radio show “La Fe Cafe con Javier Galvan.”
