Mike Gonzalezshared the final conversation he had with his fatherJimmy Gonzalezbefore the Tejano legend passed away in June 2018. The conversation is a preview of a full interview withFierro HDafternoon hostBo Corona.

In the audio shared withTejano Nation, Mike talks about the emotional conversation with his father after a show in Bryan, Texas. The last performance for the Mazz co-founder with his son as drummer days before the death of the Tejano icon from complications of diabetes.

The full interview will air on Fierro HD (101.1 HD2 in Houston and 107.5 HD2 in Dallas) on Friday at 5 pm.

Mike Gonzalez is continuing the legacy of his father as he plans to release a debut album with his own band, Mike Gonzalez and The Iconiczz, with a double Z at the end as a tribute to his father’s band Mazz.

Jimmy Gonzalez is remembered as a pioneer, icon, and one of the most influential artists in Tejano music leading Grupo Mazz to multiple Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards.

Mike Gonzalez and the Iconiczz are scheduled to perform Saturday (June 5) at El Social in Houston.
