The legacy of late Tejano iconEmilio Navairawill be celebrated at the upcoming Onda Live! Chicano Music + Culture Fest on Oct. 29.
The virtual event will pay tribute to “El Rey del Rodeo” with a nostalgic musical journey of Emilio’s rise in the Tejano music industry and crossover into Country music. The heartfelt ovation will feature Emilio’s sons,DiegoandEmilio IV, together with their band members fromThe Last Bandoleros, along with Emilio’s brotherRaulito Navairaand his children,DestinyandRigo.
Emilio Navaira passed away due to natural causes of cardiovascular disease at his home in New Braunfels, Texas, on May 16, 2016. He was 53.
The epic virtual celebration will be part of the three-day Onda Live! Chicano Music + Culture Fest, co-hosted byCheech MarinandMarisol “La Marisoul” HernandezofLa Santa Cecilia, with an 80th birthday celebration for music legendLittle Joeand features performances fromTierra,Los Lobos,Ozomatli, and more.
