“Three years in the making,” she said. “For those of you that may not know, I started this CD before I lost my dad in 2016.”

The Tejano icon lost her father Fred Lares in July 2016 after a brave battle with cardiac ailments.

“(For) a year I couldn’t do anything,” she said. “I was not creating, I was not arranging, nothing and then came in, did ‘Devuélveme El Corazón’ a year ago and it just all started pouring out of me and we were able to finish the CD.”

“I’m so emotional about it,” she added. “A lot of my heart and soul is in it. It’s everything that I love, different genres, but nonetheless, the hardcore heartbeat of it all is Tejano music.”
