The career of Conjunto legend Linda Escobar has spanned over five decades, singing since the age of 9, but could a Tejano album be in the near future for the Conjunto Diva?

Escobar, who was recently nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at the 38th annual Tejano Music Awards, gave Tejano Nation exclusive details.

“My heart and my soul is more in tune with Conjunto, but I love Tejano,” she said. “I love Tejano music, because that’s Conjunto’s baby, you know, and that’s where it all derived from.”

Fans can expect a surprise from the legendary singer in 2019.

“I’m going to be working on a Tejano album,” she said. “This year, in 2019, Linda Escobar, The Conjunto Diva, is going to record a Tejano album, just for the fun of it! I want people to know that I am versatile, that I can sing English, Country, Tejano, Conjunto…whatever you want, I can sing it.”

This will be the first album for Escobar since the release of Vi Una Nube, in May 2017, that was dedicated to her mother, Jesusa Koehler Escobar, who passed away in February 2017.

The Conjunto legend also gave plans for her 20th annual El Veterano Conjunto Festival, honoring veterans in memory of her father, Conjunto legend Eligio Escobar, for November 3, 2019.  The festival honors all veterans for their service to this country and awards scholarships to young musicians on behalf of the Eligio Escobar Scholarship Fund.
