The legacy of one of Tejano music’s most influential families is entering a powerful new chapter with the rise of Cinco F’s, a San Antonio-based group rooted in tradition and fueled by the next generation of talent.

Founded by legendary former La Tropa F members Jaime B. Farias and Jesse B. Farias Sr., Cinco F’s is more than just another band emerging onto the Tejano scene — it’s the continuation of a musical bloodline that has helped shape the genre for decades.

Blending Tejano and Conjunto rhythms with infectious cumbias and heartfelt rancheras, the group is already gaining attention with its fresh yet familiar sound. Cinco F’s has released several singles, including “Se Alegra Mi Alma,” “Hoy Para Siempre,” and the fan-favorite “Ando Alto.”

In a recent interview with Fierro HD morning host Bo Corona, Jaime B. Farias opened up about the family’s musical journey, the inspiration behind the new project, and why continuing the Farias legacy means so much.

“I love what I do,” Jaime shared. “Gracias a Dios que me dio a toda la familia, regalo de la música. A lot of families are into sports… but for us, it was always music.”

Growing up in the Farias household meant living and breathing music every day. Jaime recalled that his parents’ living room was filled with instruments instead of furniture, creating the foundation for a family dynasty that would eventually become Tejano royalty.

“My mom’s living room never really had furniture,” he said with a laugh. “There were just instruments in the whole living room.”

As one of the founding members of La Tropa F and an accomplished songwriter, Jaime said the idea for Cinco F’s began after he and his brother Jesse took some time away from performing. Eventually, the desire to return to music — and introduce the younger generation — brought them back.

“We got bored of being home,” Jaime joked. “We were going to start just to have some fun, but then his kids started singing with us a little bit. They understand it’s not going to be the same, but they can sing.”

The name Cinco F’s comes directly from the family connection. The lineup includes Jesse Farias Sr, Anthony Farias, Araceli Farias, and Patsy Marie Farias — all carrying the family surname and musical tradition forward.

“I thank my brother and my sister-in-law for giving me the opportunity to produce these kids and write for them,” Jaime said. “Because I hadn’t written for a good while.”

That creative spark has reignited in a major way. Jaime revealed that many of the songs being released today were ideas he had stored away for years before revisiting and reworking them for Cinco F’s.

“A lot of the music that I’m bringing out is music that I had in the closet,” he explained. “I’m getting back to rewriting a lot of it, and thank the people, man, I’m getting some good response out there.”

One standout release is “Ando Alto,” written by Jaime Farias and performed by Anthony Farias on lead vocals. While the title may raise eyebrows at first glance, Jaime said the song is actually about the emotional high that comes with finding love and embracing life’s blessings.

“Ando Alto — he’s in cloud nine, man,” Jaime explained during the interview. “A lot of people hear ‘alto’ and think, ‘Is this guy on drugs?’ No, no. He found the right one. He’s in love.”

The song also reflects Anthony’s own personal journey into fatherhood and maturity, capturing a heartfelt perspective that resonates with younger listeners while staying true to the storytelling roots of Tejano music.
