Sunny Sauceda is recovering after successful knee surgery on Wednesday in San Antonio.
The two-time Grammy winner underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee that he suffered while performing at Univision’s Fan Fair on March 17 in San Antonio.

Sauceda, who always performs high-energy shows, had been battling through the injury over the past month while performing at his scheduled gigs, including his performance at Fiesta De La Flor on April 13, the two-day music festival that honors late Tejano icon Selena in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas.
The star had originally planned to have the surgery in May, but moved it up to have the surgery performed by Dr. David Schmidt, the team doctor for the San Antonio Spurs.
Sauceda’s wife, Vickie Vargas-Sauceda, updated fans on his surgery via Facebook on Wednesday, “All went well and no other damage, so he’ll be good to go after a couple days of rest! Doc said first time in 32 years he’s had an injury due to playing the accordion.”
“Still a little sleepy from the anesthesia, already took steps on my knee I’m ready to get back to work, lots to do,” Sunny Sauceda posted on his Facebook. “Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.”
