One of the first events to kick off Fiesta Thursday was Tejano Explosion. On any given day during Fiesta, event organizers said about 2,000 to 3,000 people will spill inside the gates of Tejano Explosion.

Tejano Explosion has been dancing the night away for more than a decade and because Fiesta is longer this year, Tejano Explosion will also be longer. Spanning 14 days compared to 10 days in previous years.

Event organizers expect one of their biggest crows of Fiesta, Friday, when well known musician Ramon Ayala performs.

Security would seem to be a concern, given the big crowds. However, organizers said this is a very safe Fiesta event.

You can spot Bexar County Sheriff's deputies walking around and posted in various spots within the gates of Tejano Explosion. And because of the unique and small layout of the event at Cattleman’s Square, organizers said it's easy to monitor who's coming in and out.
“Bexar County Sheriff’s Department is the one that provides all our security for us, we pretty much let them control as far as how many man power there is, so we know we’ve got everything covered,” said event organizer Jesse Diaz.

This year Tejano Explosion is featuring a new VIP section for anyone wanting table service. There’s also a children’s section added for kids attending during the day.
