CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Ben F. McDonald Library announces the return of Pláticas Musicales (Music Talks), a monthly live Tejano music series.

Local band Motif will perform Tejano and Motown dance tunes on Wednesday, April 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at 4404 Greenwood Drive. The concert series takes place on the last Wednesday of each month and is free to the public.

In addition, La Música del Sur de Tejas (The Music of South Texas), a photo exhibit featuring people integral in the evolution of Tejano music in South Texas, will be on display.

Among those included in the exhibit are Alberto Huerta and Ramiro Sanchez from Falfurrias, Los Unicos, a recording group from the Rio Grande Valley, Armando Pena, Jr., legendary radio broadcaster from Laredo, and Barbi Leo, current Domingo Live co-host, and KIII-TV morning news anchor.

The exhibit now includes nearly 70 inductees and is open during regular library hours, and is free to the public.

Mike Chavez, former Domingo Live host, and 2019 La Música del Sur de Tejas photo gallery inductee, will act as master of ceremonies for Wednesday’s event.
