The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center has shared an important update about the future of the Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio, assuring fans that the beloved event will return in full for its 44th year despite unprecedented funding challenges.

“Funding cuts raised serious concerns about whether the festival would happen at all or be shortened,” the center stated. “However, we are excited to announce that the festival will take place from May 14–17, 2026, at Rosedale Park! After careful consideration, we have committed to moving forward with the festival at its full length, but we urgently need the support of our loyal sponsors, followers, and community members to make this possible.”

The Tejano Conjunto Festival en San Antonio holds the distinction of being the first and longest-running Conjunto festival in the United States. Internationally recognized as the most influential event celebrating this significant South Texas musical tradition, the festival showcases the best in Conjunto music—from legendary performers to rising bands and heritage award winners—across Rosedale Park and the historic Guadalupe Theater.

Directed by Cristina Ballí and guided by festival founder Juan Tejeda, the festival draws enthusiastic crowds of approximately 10,000 fans, dancers, and musicians from across Texas, the United States, Mexico, Europe, and Asia. Past editions have included multi-day performances, dancing, a special Seniors Dance, and the Conjunto Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

As the festival team prepares for the 2026 event, they emphasize that community support is crucial. “The generosity of our community is essential for ensuring the festival’s success, both now and in the future,” the statement reads. “We invite our dedicated sponsors, followers, and supporters to contribute in any way they can. Your support will not only help us create a memorable festival this year but also secure the future of this beloved event.”
