Grupo Frontera, the chart-topping norteño-cumbia group from the Rio Grande Valley, will make their Grand Ole Opry debut on November 7, 2025, as part of the iconic venue’s centennial celebration — marking another milestone moment in the band’s meteoric rise.

The group shared their excitement on social media ahead of the performance, writing, “My people… we are very excited to make our @Opry debut!! This November 7, we’re bringing our sound to Nashville. It’ll be a show in pure Frontera style.”

Blending their Mexican roots with a growing love for country influences, Grupo Frontera’s latest album, Jugando a Que No Pasa Nada, showcases their versatility. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the band revealed they drew inspiration from George Strait and Morgan Wallen, adding a country edge to their signature sound.

Earlier this year, Frontera gave fans a taste of that cross-genre fusion during their NPR Tiny Desk performance, where they incorporated pedal steel guitar on their country-flavored version of “Hecha Pa’ Mí” and experimented with a country-reggae blend on “Por Qué Será.”

Frontman Payo Solís told Variety in May 2024“We’re a band that can play different styles, and all of us have different music tastes. Some of us like rap, R&B, country. We felt now, with putting out a second album, was the perfect time to experiment, and create something for everyone to enjoy.”

Grupo Frontera’s Opry debut follows in the footsteps of Carin León, who made history as one of the first música mexicana artists to perform on the Opry stage in 2024. Their performance marks another bridge between Regional Mexican music and Nashville’s storied country tradition.

Since forming in Edinburg, Texas, in 2019, Grupo Frontera has evolved from performing at local weddings and parties to dominating international charts. Their viral cover of Morat’s “No Se Va” in 2022 propelled them into stardom, followed by a string of collaborations with major Latin acts including Ozuna, Grupo Firme, Xavi, and Ryan Castro.

With their Grand Ole Opry debut, Grupo Frontera continues to expand the reach of música mexicana, proving that the sounds of the borderlands resonate far beyond the Rio Grande Valley — all the way to the heart of country music in Nashville.
