Tejano-country crossover sensation Crystal Torres has released a teaser for her upcoming single, “Ya Me Voy,” a powerful and high-energy cumbia produced by Eddie Jay. The track, which impacted Tejano radio last week, will be available for streaming on all major platforms this Friday, October 17. With its infectious beat and empowering message, the song is designed for anyone ready to walk away from toxic love and reclaim their strength.
Written by Torres herself, “Ya Me Voy” fuses danceable cumbia rhythms with raw, emotional lyrics that transform heartbreak into self-liberation. Lines like “Aprendí a quererme a mí, más de lo que tú a mí jamás” serve as a bold reminder that freedom begins with loving yourself.
“I wanted to write a song that people can dance to while also feeling stronger in their own story,” said Torres. “Ya Me Voy is about leaving the pain behind and celebrating the moment you finally put yourself first.”
Torres’ journey to Tejano stardom began in Des Moines, Iowa, where she grew up immersed in the music of Tejano legends like Ruben Ramos, Sunny Ozuna, and Little Joe, while drawing inspiration from icons like Shelly Lares and the incomparable Selena. Teaching herself to sing, she refined her voice and artistry, eventually moving to San Antonio, Texas, the heart of Tejano music, in late 2009 with nothing but determination and a dream.
Shortly after arriving, Torres collaborated with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Gilbert Velasquez to create her debut album, Corazón de Crystal, released in early 2013. The album’s success earned her the Best New Female Artist award at the 2014 Tejano Music Awards, solidifying her as one of modern Tejano music’s most passionate and promising voices.
