Backstreet Boys Release 20th Anniversary Edition Of 'I Want It That Way'

In celebration of the 20th anniversary release of their blockbuster, Millennium, on Saturday (May 18), the Backstreet Boys have dropped a new stripped-down acoustic version of their signature hit 1998, "I Want It That Way."

Unlike the shiny Max Martin-produced original, the newly-recorded rendition hears Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Howie Dorough offer listeners with the same joy as the original, but this version is slow and steady with guitar backing to put their grown voices on display. "Believe us when we say, no one else comes close to having as amazing fans as we do! It’s gotta be you guys, We would never be able to say enough 'thank yous' but wanted to share a little something to show how grateful we are," the band said in a statement.

"I Want It That Way" was the lead single off of Millennium, which was released on May 18, 1999. It was the band’s third studio album, but their sophomore effort in America and featured singles like "Larger Than Life" and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely." Expect to hear "I Want It That Way" and many more of the band's hits on their 70-date "DNA World Tour," which just launched in Lisbon, Portugal on May 11. They'll take the trek around Europe, before hitting North America on July 12 in Washington D.C.
