Beyoncé is no longer attending this year's Met Gala, according to ET, who received early word that the pop titan has decided to take a vacation prior to heading out on her "On the Run II Tour" with JAY-Z.
Hours before the annual fashion extravaganza started on Monday (May 7), a source close to the pair broke the news, admitting that the last-minute decision came as a surprise to the superstar. "JAY-Z surprised her with a trip because he felt she needed to relax before her tour," the insider revealed, adding that Bey was planning on wearing a custom designed gown by DUNDAS. The designer behind the brand, Peter Dundas, had been working for weeks on the custom creation prior to what would have been the big reveal. Just a few weeks back, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams followed up their Coachella reunion when they celebrated Dundas's first traveling flagship store opening in West Hollywood, California.
Bey has appeared at a couple of Met Gala of yesteryears, including the 2014 installment, where she was caught on camera watching her sister, Solange, attack JAY-Z in a hotel elevator. It would be one of the first hints of their then-crumbling marriage, which was put at the forefront of their separate solo projects: Lemonade and 4:44.
