Halsey Slams Hotels That Only Offer 'White People Shampoo'

Halsey isn't one to bite her tongue, so it’s not really that much of a surprise that the pop star slammed the hotel industry for their lack of care for people of color when it comes to their lodging amenities.

On Thursday (April 26), the 23-year-old star, who is biracial, explained to her 9.6 million followers on Twitter that it’s frustrating to stay at a hotel that doesn’t provide shampoo for people of color. "I've been traveling for years now and it’s been so frustrating that the hotel toiletry industry entirely alienates people of color. i can’t use this perfumed watered down white people shampoo. Neither can 50% of ur customers. Annoying,” she wrote.

As expected, several users decided to hit back, particularly someone who called her “one of the white people,” and the star wasn’t about to back down. However, after several rebuttals with trolls, she seemed to make her point with her final message on the topic, writing, "It's about being made to feel unincluded. Which is, obviously, a far greater problem than shampoo. I never wanna talk about soap ever again lol. 🖕🏼💦.”

Halsey has previously opened up about her multi-racial background in an interview in August 2017. "I’m white-passing. I’ve accepted that about myself and have never tried to control anything about black culture that’s not mine,” she told Playboy. “I’m proud to be in a biracial family, I’m proud of who I am, and I’m proud of my hair. I look like a white girl, but I don’t feel like one. I’m a black woman. So, it’s been weird navigating that. When I was growing up, I didn’t know if I was supposed to love TLC or Britney [Spears]."
