Aaliyah's legacy continues to live on in 2018, as per M.A.C. Cosmetics' recent announcement surrounding an upcoming makeup collection dedicated to the R&B princess, who unexpectedly passed away in 2001.
Just last year, M.A.C. teased the collection, but Monday (April 2) saw the official announcement (and first look) as the makeup brand revealed details surrounding the line on their Instagram account. "Aaliyah super-fans everywhere – YOU made it happen! Inspired by your loyalty and love, the 90s-glam #AaliyahForMAC collection launches on maccosmetics.com on June 20th and in-stores in North America on June 21st!" they captioned a black-and-white headshot of the singer. Shortly after, M.A.C. also shared a sneak peek of a peach shade lipstick and eyeshadow palette from the forthcoming line. Products and launch dates are said to vary by market. Follow M.A.C. Baby Girl's collection first started out as a Change.org petition similar to the way the widely successful 2016 Selena x M.A.C. collection started out. It was later backed by Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, Missy Elliott, and the singer's former makeup artist Eric Ferrell.
Prior to the big launch date, M.A.C. is asking fans to submit photos and videos in efforts of putting together a video to celebrate her legacy. Simply post a photo or video of yourself that shows how Aaliyah inspired you, using the hashtags #AtoZofAaliyah and #AaliyahForMAC and complete the information on the landing page.
