Company Sells $4.5 Million Pistols Made From 4.5-Billion-Year-Old Meteorite

A high-end weapons company in the United States is selling a set of pistols made from a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite. The pair of guns are not cheap though and will set back the potential buy $4.5 million.

The "Big Bang Pistol Set," was made by Cabot Guns and forged using metals from the Gibeon meteorite, which fell in Namibia, Africa. Rob Bianchin, who is the founder, and president of the Indiana-based firearms company, said that collectors have told him the "The Big Bang Pistol set are the 'holy grail' of collectible firearms" and will be "the crown jewel of any collection."

"These will be the crown jewel of any collection - they will appeal to both firearm collectors as well as those fascinated with space and engineering."

He added that metals from the Gibeon meteorite "are the most desired of all iron meteorites."

The set of M1911 pistols are fully operational and mark the first time a mechanical object has been made using metals from a meteorite.

The hefty price tag may limit their appeal for the average gun owner or collector, but have been attracting some interest from a "hedge fund billionaire, a tech mogul, an industrialist and a royal."
