Latin Grammy winner Bobby Pulido alerted his fans about the escalation of fake accounts impersonating him, in a recent social media video on his verified account.
The “Desvelado” singer expressed his concern, stating, “OK we’ve been getting a lot of people asking questions. We don’t have all these accounts, you guys, asking you for money and saying you know there’s a lot of people out there trying to act like they’re me.”
Pulido stated he only has four official social media accounts including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
“We won’t ask you for any money not gonna be saying this is my other account my personal account and I wanna be your friend. No they’re all fake. Don’t listen to them,” he said. “We get tired of trying to report them and getting them down, so be careful, watch out with that.”
Pulido emphasized the importance of vigilance, urging fans to verify accounts before engaging with them. He added, “Please be careful and do not send any money or personal info to any fake accounts. My Facebook and Instagram are both verified. My TikTok is @bobbypulido425 and appears as Bobby Pulido as my screen name. And I do not have a telegram account. Sorry for any confusion. Please report these fake accounts.”
The Rise of Fake Accounts Targeting Fans
Fake accounts have become a significant issue for celebrities and their fans. Scammers create these accounts to lure unsuspecting fans into sending money or personal information. These fraudulent activities can lead to financial loss and identity theft. Fans are often targeted with messages claiming to be from the celebrity, asking for money for various reasons, such as charity donations or personal favors.
To protect themselves, fans should always look for verified badges on social media profiles and be wary of unsolicited messages asking for money or personal information. Reporting fake accounts to the respective social media platforms can also help in taking them down and preventing further scams.
Bobby Pulido’s proactive approach in warning his fans highlights the importance of staying informed and cautious in the digital age. By spreading awareness, he hopes to protect his fans from falling victim to these scams and ensure a safer online experience for everyone.
