Award-winning Tejano singer Savannah V, known for her powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence, has released her new album, “El Color de Mi Amor.” In an exclusive interview with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, Savannah shared insights into the creation of the album, her collaborations, and the emotional journey back to her musical roots.
The album is a reflection of Savannah’s musical journey, which began when she started recording at the age of 13. “It ended up me wanting to go back to my roots, starting to dig up everything that, that all the hard work that I’ve done in the past since the age of 13 years old,” said Savannah.
The song that was most emotional to record for the former American Idol contestant was the album’s title track. She said, ”That song I had at the age of 13. So my mom took part of it. My dad took part of it. My grandfather would take me to the studio when I was young and it was just like a little house. It was like inside of a closet. So I recorded that song in a closet the first time I ever recorded it. So re-recording it brought me so many memories of my grandfather, of my childhood.”

One of the highlights of the album is a cover of the hit song by Tabu titled “Cumbia Pa’ Que,” featuring Mari Gonzalez of Tabu and La Machy of La Conquista. “I got to collaborate on the album, which I’m very excited about,” Savannah said. “I got to have, you know, Conquista herself, La Machy and Tabu, Mari Gonzalez, on my album, which they’re legends in this industry. So it’s just an honor to be working with legends.”
The Tejano Music Awards winner also spoke about working with producer Sevy Contreras at Slackmonster Studios. “I have two albums with Sevy. This is my third album with him. So it’s home, you know, it’s like, he knows me, I know him and we work so good together.”
Savannah added the album’s cover has significance. “We released the album and if you see the album it kind of like a grayish, which is spiritual for me. The gray has a spiritual meaning. The purple has a spiritual meaning, and the white chair. So the whole album cover is based off of my spirituality.”
The 10-track album “El Color de Mi Amor” is available on all digital music platforms. Savannah V’s return to her roots is a testament to her love for music and her commitment to her fans. “I’m proud of myself. I’m proud that I didn’t give up on myself. I’m proud that I did it. Like I stood my ground and I said, you know what? I need to finish something. So I finally finished an album and it took me eight years, but I did it. A big shout out to just everybody that took part on this album. If you were a part of it, I thank you so much because we created magic.”
It’s an album that promises to be as colorful and precious as the love it represents.
