HOUSTON, TX — A bevy of talented women in Tejano will perform at Noche Tejana in Houston, Texas, on Saturday, July 22, 2023, with proceeds to benefit a Tejano icons mural project.
The night will highlight powerful voices in the Tejano and Latin music industry including Latin Grammy nominee Destiny Navaira, two-time Tejano Music Awards nominee Magali Delarosa, and award-winning singing sensation Madison Pulido, with special guests Amanda Solis, Beatriz Gonzalez, rapper Carolyn Rodriguez, and Lady J at the Foundation Room at House of Blues.
One of the event organizers and Tejano musician Jenniper Watts tells Tejano Nation the night will showcase female talent in the Tejano and Latin music industry.
“I feel like the Tejano industry is very male dominated and I feel like there are a lot of women in this industry whether it is singing, playing instruments, directing or just running sound,” said Watts. “You rarely see woman do that in this industry. I want to do Noche Tejana to present female power to say, ‘Hey we are here and we can do this just as good as our male counterparts can do it’.”
Watts teamed with Rich Rodriguez and Athena Anesti to create a Tejano mural with the help and support of the city of Houston and the Tejano Center for Community and Concerns. The mural will showcase Houston-based icons and pioneers of the Tejano music industry.
Noche Tejana hopes to highlight amazing artists and generate awareness of the power of Tejano music with a mission to establish opportunities for emerging artists to bridge the gap between generations and preserve Tejano music and culture.
“We are still looking for more sponsors for the revealing event of the Tejano mural,” added Watts. The reveal date for the mural will be announced soon. For sponsorship and partnership opportunities, visit www.nochetejana.com, email info@nochetejana.com, or contact Athena Anesti 832-646-8004
Noche Tejana will take place at the House of Blues’ Foundation Room, 1204 Caroline Street in Houston, Texas. Tickets are available online at etix.com.
