Just a day after announcing he’s ready to get back on stage after recovering from vocal cord surgery earlier this month, Jay Perez revealed his highly-anticipated new album is done and awaiting a release date from Freddie Records.

“The Voice” mentioned last year in a video posted to his YouTube channel, that this will be his best album in 30 years since the release of his debut solo album. “This album means everything to me because it is by far, and everything that I’ve heard so far, it took me back to 1993 when I recorded the Te Llevo En Mi album. This by far is my best album in 30 years, that I promise you.”

Te Llevo En Mi was the debut studio album from Perez which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart earning the singer Best New Regional Mexican Artist at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 1994 and a nomination for Male Entertainer of the Year at the 1994 Tejano Music Awards. The album featured classic hits including “Yo Tengo Un Amor,” “Ella Es” and more.

The new album will contain some collaborations, including one with current Los Musicales lead vocalist Cezar Martinez. who excitedly shared the news via social media thanking Perez for believing in him for the amazing opportunity. Martinez added, “I can’t wait for y’all to hear what we’ve recorded together!”

Perez anticipates this album will receive the same success as his previously released album, El Maestro, which reached the top spot of the iTunes Latin Albums chart less than 24 hours after its release in May 2021. El Maestro also earned Perez three Tejano Music Awards last year including Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year with “Eres.”

The lead single from the still-yet-to-be-titled album is, “Necesito Ordiarte,” an uptempo Tejano-style ranchera released in November.
