LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – The buzz about the Vegas Tejano Takeover 2022 was, who’s performing this year? Every year an exciting lineup is released and Tejano fans arrive from all over the world. My agenda was to capture performances, pictures, and videos of the artists for the Tejano community that aren’t able to be in Las Vegas.

I seized an opportunity to interview Jose Roberto Pulido Jr, professionally known as Bobby Pulido, the son of Tejano legend Roberto Pulido. In 1994, EMI Latin released the album Branding Icons which featured the duet, “Contigo,” a song Bobby performed with his father and became his debut single.

“I didn’t want to be a singer, that was not the goal, but once I recorded ‘Desvelado’ that became the start of the whole thing,” Bobby tells Tejano Nation.

He released his solo debut single in 1997, “No Se Por Que,” composed by legendary songwriter Beto Ramon. It was then Bobby decided to give singing a shot. A perfectionist when it comes to the studio and picking songs, he says, “It’s hard for me to like a song enough to record it.”

Bobby and Roberto have shared the stage many times. Roberto being a valuable contributor and father advised his son about the industry, directing him to do this or that. Bobby explained, “Everything he was giving me, advice was the kinda stuff he did for himself. ‘Look, Dad, I don’t want to sound like you, I don’t have your voice.'” Bobby has the utmost respect for his father, calling him his idol. The respect is mutual and admired.

The latest single for Bobby Pulido, “Para Que Baile Mi Pueblo,” is a catchy upbeat cumbia. The music video features amazing choreography with dancers in the club having a good time. The song was originally recorded by Guardianes Del Amor about 22 years ago, and Bobby decided to change it up, making it his own.

Bobby recently released a five-song EP that includes other great songs, “Cuantas Mentiras,” “Hoy Rompo el Silencio,” “Dificil Es,” and “Se Me Antoja,” along with the hit title track, which is currently #11 on Rudy Trevino’s Tejano Gold Countdown.

Taking time to produce, to really enjoy the whole aspect of the song, and paying attention to detail, is what Bobby has shown to give his fans. Respecting all genres and sexual orientations, as shown in music videos. Much more is in the future for Bobby as he has made his mark in the hearts of many Tejanos over the course of his almost 30-year career.
