“It feels really good to know that I’m back up there singing again and the fans are having a good time enjoying the music,” DeAnda said. “I’m dancing again, getting that energy back.”

“Look out, because I love it,” he added. “And I got a second chance, like I said, and I’m here to make more music.”

As for what type of music fans can expect, DeAnda said the search is on, but he definitely won’t abandon the music that made him a household name in the Tejano/Conjunto genre.

“I’ve been hearing a lot of different music,” DeAnda said.

From polkas to cumbias to rancheras, DeAnda said he’s trying to find “what are the fans going to want to hear next?”

“And whatever we do, don’t think, ‘Oh, he’s changed his style,'” he added. “I will never stop playing what I started because that’s what made me who I am. And the fans are the reason why I won’t stop and (will) do my best.”
