The Tejano world reacted to the news of an 18-year-old gunman opening fire at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and killing 21 including 19 children on Tuesday.

It was the deadliest shooting at a U.S. elementary school since 2012 when a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.

The band, who are from Uvalde, had family members that attended Robb Elementary, according to a social media post shared by Johnny and Amber Arreola announcing that their children were unharmed. “My children are safe! Thank you Jesus! Please continue to pray for all families involved,” said the post.

Johnny Arreola is a founding member of the Los Palominos with his brothers. He recently left the band to record Christian music and to focus on his ministry.

Siggno frontman Jesse Turner shared a message to the community of Uvalde. “Amigos y familias de Uvalde, TX estamos todos orando por ustedes. I’m speechless and I want you to know that we can all feel your pain. Much love to you,” he wrote on Twitter.
